ReciteIQ
A new kind of Assessment

your students know more than a test reveals.

ReciteIQ lets teachers upload questions the way they normally would on paper. The AI then puts the student in the teaching seat — asking, misunderstanding, and pushing back. What you get isn't a score. It's a true picture of what they actually understand.

Wait — so the plant is eating sunlight? That doesn't make sense to me.

Good question. The plant isn't eating light — it's using light as energy to power a chemical reaction...

Studying isn't the same as knowing

Your students can read the same notes ten times and still blank on the exam. The gap between familiarity and real understanding only shows up when they have to explain it.

📖

Tests are outdated

A student can memorize the right answer without understanding why it's right. Multiple choice doesn't catch that. You don't find out until it's too late

😬

Nerves skew results

Test anxiety makes quiet students look like they don't know the material — when they do. You're measuring stress, not knowledge.

🕳️

You can't see their thinking

A correct answer tells you what they got right. It doesn't show you how they're thinking or where the gaps actually are.

Three steps to real insight

Upload your questions. Watch your students teach. See exactly where understanding breaks down.

01
Upload your questions

Add the questions you'd normally put on a worksheet or test. ReciteIQ uses them to drive the session.

02
The student teaches

Your student explains the material to AI classmates who push back, misunderstand, and ask follow-ups — just like a real class would.

03
You see the real picture

After each session, receive a clarity score, jargon report, and a breakdown of the concepts your students struggled with most — so you know exactly where to focus next.

Jargon flags
Role of chlorophyll — 3 students confused about why leaves are green and what chlorophyll actually does.
Where glucose goes — students unclear on how the plant uses or stores the energy produced.
CO₂ vs O₂ — minor confusion about which gas enters and exits. Consider using an analogy next time.

Know exactly where your student's understanding breaks down

Most assessments tell you if they got it right. ReciteIQ shows you why they got it wrong — and which concepts need more time in class.

  • Flags where the student used memorized phrases without real understanding
  • Jargon detector flags terms you used without explaining
  • Session history so you can track each student's progress over time
  • Clarity score per concept, not just a final grade
The science

The protégé effect is not a metaphor

Decades of cognitive science research confirm that teaching is one of the most effective learning strategies available. When you explain a concept to someone else, your brain is forced to organize, structure, and stress-test your understanding in ways that reading simply cannot.

"Students who expected to teach recalled significantly more material and organized it more effectively than those who only expected a test." — Nestojko et al., Memory & Cognition, 2014

Common questions

Is this actually useful or just a gimmick?

The protégé effect is one of the most replicated findings in cognitive science — teaching genuinely improves retention and comprehension more than re-reading, flashcards, or practice tests alone. ReciteIQ is built to operationalize that effect. If you can explain something clearly to a confused student, you understand it. If you can't, you find out exactly why.

What subjects does it cover?

Anything. Since you put the questions you want your students to explain, you can cover any subject you deem fit. The AI will ask questions that are common and some you put in yourself.

How is this different from other AI software?

AI can play a confused student, but it can't tell you which concepts your class struggled with, who needs more time, or where your explanation broke down. ReciteIQ is built around the teacher's perspective — every session produces a breakdown of your student's understanding, not just a conversation.

Is it free?

Early access will be free. We're planning a freemium model — a meaningful free tier with optional paid plans for more sessions and advanced feedback. No credit card required to join the waitlist.

When will it launch?

We're targeting public access in November. Waitlist members get in first and will have direct access to give feedback that shapes how the product develops.
